I know I never thought I would make it to 20 but boy am I looking forward to 30. and 40. and 50. and 75. growing old is exciting and it's a gift

mobydyke

when I was 16 and lorde said "feels so scary getting old" I felt that in my heart but now I'm 25 and the mountain goats say "it's real sweet to grow old" and I sing along as loudly as I can.

mobydyke

sometimes getting older is an act of spite. a rebellion against a world that does not want you to survive. it's how we say "fuck you" to a society that tries to kills us. but sometimes growing old is gentler. it is joyous. it's something we do because we love the world and we want to see more of it. and the world, in return, loves us and wants to see more of us.

Has anyone already reblogged this with saris? It’s cool how many cultures have similarities like this hidden in plain sight.

It’s only men in the photos but really anyone can wear them. I am wearing a lungi right now.

I also know Thailand and Sri Lanka have their versions of a lungi as well.

reading a biography about arthur conan doyle (author of sherlock holmes books) and he got hate mail from Oscar Wildes ex boyfriend??

some excerpts from the letter-

"Sir, What a disgusting beast you are..."

" The proper way to deal with such a man as you would be to give you a thrashing with a horse whip."

"...your idiot 'Shelock holmes' business."

and he signed it 'Yours with the utmost contempt.'

to which Doyle responded " Sir, I was relieved to get your letter. It is only your approval which could in any way annoy me"

looking into it i saw that Jean Doyle (Arthur conan doyles wife, labelled the letter as " A splendid answer from my darling to that rat Alfred Douglas'

When it’s not rolling down the highway, a trailer owned by a West Berlin woman was likely to be found cruising around a lake, 1954. A pontoon raft turns the amphibious trailer into a houseboat. A small gasoline engine propels it when it’s in the water.
